The farm and the small village town of Gjerde (not sure that"village town" is the right expression to use,but in lack of a better word it will have to do for now.....)
How do I find photos of when my great great grandparents lived on the Gjerde farm according to the 1900 census. Gunder Klausen(Farm unit no. 2)Farm no. 11, Circuit Sannikedal
Thanks for these photos! I am particularly struck by the photo you said that also goes by "Anders Haugen". I know my Haugen relatives farmed (from 1600's through to 1892) both in the Krundalen valley and that flat land right by Gjerde village center.
Are you familiar with Lars Øyane's books on Luster Kommune (volume 5)? There is so much information about each primary farm in his books. I have to translate them from Norwegian using Google translate. I only wish I could read Norwegian. Anyway, I am confident we are related somehow. So, thanks again and have a good day distant cousin! Damian
Ps. I am on Ancestry.com. If you follow up with this comment, maybe we can connect the dots through an ancestry page?
I have always been interested in history and a couple of years ago I started to explore my own heritage. On this blog you`ll find old pictures of my family, the farm and the valley of Jostedal. Some people may find it interesting - some not....
Location: Gjerde, Jostedal, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway
Hei=)
Eg heite Karin, bur i Jøstedalen... er mjølkebonde, brukar pengane mine på hest og er av og til hotell-kokke :)
I`m a girl living in the western part of Norway, smack dab in the middle of the glaciers and the fjords. Dairyfarmer,hobby: horses...
